What this site is for
Most mold advice online is either frightening or trying to sell an emergency call-out. Mold Guide UAE exists to explain what is actually happening: mold is a sign of a moisture problem, and the fix is to find and correct that moisture. Where a small problem can reasonably be handled without full professional remediation, our guides say so.
Who operates it
The site is operated with the support of BioSweep Middle East LLC, a Dubai-based indoor air quality and environmental-hygiene company that has worked in the UAE since 2011. BioSweep provides the technical review for our content and is where we refer readers who need a professional inspection or remediation. The educational guidance here is kept separate from BioSweep's commercial services.
Who reviews the content
Guides are written by the Mold Guide UAE editorial team and reviewed for technical accuracy by the BioSweep Middle East indoor air quality and remediation team before publication. That team's day-to-day work in the UAE covers moisture investigation with meters and thermal imaging, HVAC-related contamination, water-damage response, containment remediation and post-remediation verification — the same subjects these guides cover. The reviewer checks that every recommendation is safe, proportionate to the situation described, and consistent with recognised practice, and that nothing on the site over-reaches into medical diagnosis or legal advice.
Each guide shows a “last reviewed” date and is revisited when guidance changes or a reader flags an error. Substantive corrections are noted on the page. Our full process is in the editorial and technical review policy.
What we base guidance on
We prioritise primary and high-authority sources over opinion: Dubai Municipality technical guidance and UAE public-health information where it applies, and the World Health Organization, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the US Environmental Protection Agency for the building-science and health context. Where the practical detail is UAE-specific — chilled-water fan coil units, the summer humidity load, villa irrigation against external walls, gypsum-heavy construction — it reflects what BioSweep's team actually encounters on inspections here. The list of sources is on the Dubai guidelines and sources page.
How we keep it useful
- Every guide starts with a direct answer, then explains the reasoning.
- We describe what you can safely check yourself, and where DIY should stop.
- We do not identify a mold species or a health risk from a photo or its colour.
- We do not make medical or legal claims, and we say so clearly where a question is outside our scope.
- Commercial links go to BioSweep only where professional help is genuinely the right next step — most of the site has no sales call to action at all.
