Who writes and who reviews
Guides are researched and written by the Mold Guide UAE editorial team and then reviewed for technical accuracy and UAE relevance by the BioSweep Middle East LLC indoor air quality and remediation team before they are published. BioSweep has operated in the UAE since 2011 in indoor air quality and environmental hygiene; its field work — moisture surveys, HVAC contamination, water damage, containment remediation and clearance — covers the same ground as these guides.
The reviewer checks three things on every page: that the advice is safe for a non-specialist to act on, that it is proportionate to the situation described (not over- or under-reacting), and that it is consistent with recognised practice. Anything that would need a site visit to answer responsibly is framed as “get an assessment” rather than guessed at.
Sourcing
We prioritise primary and high-authority sources over opinion:
- UAE: Dubai Municipality technical guidance and UAE public-health information where it applies.
- Health and building science: the World Health Organization, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the US Environmental Protection Agency, plus peer-reviewed indoor air quality and building-science research.
- Practice: recognised remediation standards where licensing permits their use, accredited laboratory guidance, and manufacturer technical documentation.
- Field context: what BioSweep's team actually encounters on UAE inspections, used to keep the detail locally accurate.
The full source list is on the Dubai guidelines and sources page.
Updating
Every guide carries a visible “last reviewed” date. Pages are revisited when guidance changes, when a reader reports an issue, or on a periodic schedule. A substantive change — a corrected fact, a revised recommendation — is noted on the page; a minor wording fix is not.
What we will not do
- Identify mold species or health risk from a photograph or colour.
- Provide medical diagnosis or individual medical advice.
- Provide legal advice on tenancy disputes.
- Use fear marketing, fake urgency, or unverifiable claims.
Corrections
If you spot an error, contact us and we will review it. Substantive corrections are noted on the page. Each guide shows a "last reviewed" date and is revisited periodically.
Commercial relationship
This is an educational resource supported by BioSweep Middle East LLC. Guides may link to BioSweep for professional help where that is genuinely the appropriate next step. Educational content is not written to drive sales, and most of the site has no commercial call to action.
